Recruitment Company - Indoor Team Building Activities
Accountancy Action Financial Recruitment Company:
They asked us to set up a cupcake decorating workshop for their regular client networking event.
It was such a fun evening. The cocktails flowed freely and the guests quickly relaxed into their cake making activity. Most of them worked in HR or Finance so don’t get much chance to be creative in their day to day roles.
They were amazed by how quickly they picked up the various buttercream swirls and loved the variety of sprinkles and edible decorations.
It was a great ice breaking activity and created a real bond between the participants. Many of whom had arrived as strangers and left as friends. All in all this cake making event was a great success.

Nike Training Day Activity
There is nothing I like better than a challenge so I was thrilled to hear from Nik who wanted something unique. He told me he worked for a company called nike. ‘Ah yes, I’ve heard of them’, I replied. He wanted a bespoke event created that would stimulate some great brainstorming. This gave me the chance to create some fab edible trainers (Nike obvs), football kits and world cups. They would use the cakes instead of a mood board and then pitch their concept. The themes they were given were; ‘Woman’s World Cup’, ‘London Marathon’ & ‘Nike Air’. Let’s just say that some of the deliveries were more successful than others and the stand out pitch was not for the winning presentation. But the first pic below shows the winning teams brilliantly executed design. They showed great focus and team work as well as an impressive technical ability with the actual piping and decorating. For me there design stood out as cohesive and well realised. The girls were thrilled with their prizes of Cookie Girl cake decorating kits.
Work Social Event Ideas
It was an absolute blast working with WeWork as a part of their brilliantly curated Christmas activities and experiences for their staff. The lovely Annick had done a terrific job creating a varied and inspiring range of pursuits for both WeWork employees and members as client events. We set up ‘Pop Up’ cupcake decorating area and we were absolutely inundated by people wanting to have the opportunity to try their hand at cake making. I was really impressed by the standard of cake decorating and their were a lot of really imaginative cupcakes being created. It always surprises me when people talk about cake decorating being a women’s thing. On this occasion there were definitely a lot more men than women taking part. And there was a lot of competition between them. I always find this when we are doing team building and conference activities, the guys always take it much more seriously than the women do. It’s such a great idea to create all these varied experiences for their member’s to get involved with and fosters a real sense of community and belonging as well as a great opportunity for some networking. I have worked for WeWork before hosting a cupcake decorating workshop as a team bonding activity for one of their monthly mixer evenings. It was really fun and they were a lovely group. I was really impressed by the London Bridge venue and loved the concept of what they do and how they do it. This time working at Devonshire Square I learnt so much more about the company ethos and discovered just why their employees love working there. They are a really young company and have such a fresh approach to running a business. They are really into sustainability and have a no plastics policy. They also support refugees as their priority charity. As you know this is close to my heart with my fundraising for help Refugees through my initiative #Bake4Refugees. A lot of businesses are wary of showing support for this cause as it has become so politicised so I really admire and respect them for this. We had such great feedback from everyone and they were so appreciative of what we offered we are really looking forward to going back to do more cake events with them soon.
Capgemini 'Freshers Week'
How lucky are the graduate recruits at Capgemini? They got to do one of our cake making team building events for their ‘freshers week’ activity. They had a total laugh learning how to decorate cakes at this fun filled company event. It was a wonderful opportunity for the new recruits to network and do some team bonding with their co-workers. What better way to get to know your new recruits than by joining them to learn how to create stunning cakes in a fab cake class team event. It was a really great company event and by the end of the evening a lot of team bonding had been achieved!
Buttercream Swirls Private Class
It was hard to believe that Rebecca had never tried piping buttercream swirls when she did cake making before. She was an absolute natural! She really benefited from the focus of a private one to one cake decorating lesson. We covered the swirl piping techniques that we would do in our usual beginners cake class as well as some of the sugarpaste work we do in the full day decorating class. She absolutely loved creating the sugarpaste roses and as you can see from the photos she did a brilliant job with them. She spent time experimenting with the different fondant molds to make a variety of edible adornments including; broaches, bows and flowers. She also decided to use this cake class to experiment with two tone icing colours. I showed her a variety of different ways to get good effects without having to invest in a two channel bag (which I personally don’t think look very good anyway). We had such a great time working together and I’m looking forward to her returning to learn intermediate and advanced piping techniques at her next cupcake workshop.
Corporate Fun Days
Rolling up at Amber Lakes we knew we were in for an amazing day of cupcake decorating fun. It is the most stunning location with a beautiful wooden building set on a picturesque lake (obvs). The organisers had created a really special day out with lots of different activities. As well as our fun cake making workshop there was; hula hooping, gin tasting, flower headdress making, glitter face paints, zorbing, beach volleyball, football and a climbing wall. As well as some fantastic food stalls including the delicious pulled beef from 'Bills', well stocked bars a live music stage and some great DJ's. Our cake class was hugely popular. Event after hosting 2two packed classes we had more people wanting to get involved. In the end we set up a 'pop up' cake decorating area whilst we packed up allowing us to teach cake decorating to an extra 20+ people. This really felt like the future of corporate away days. The company employees were clearly having the best time and thrilled to be so appreciated by their employers.
Company Freshers Week Event
Our cupcake decorating workshop was the perfect activity for Capgemini's fresher week entertainment. The new recruits had been working hard getting to know the ins and outs of the company operations. So they were well and truly ready to have a few drinks and unwind whilst learning a fun new skill at this company event. They really enjoyed the cake making workshop and were thrilled with their results. We covered everything that we would do in a beginners cupcake decorating class. They soon got the hang of the buttercream piping techniques. As you can see they had really bonded over the buttercream and delicious cakes. They were soon laughing and giggling like old friends whilst enjoying a couple of drinks. It was a really fun team event and a lovely way to welcome the new recruits. I'm sure doing such a fun networking event really helped the new freshers settle into the company quickly and easy.
KPMG Team Building Events London
Having worked with KPMG many times over the years it’s always a pleasure to hear from them. In the past we’ve created cake making networking and client events for them. This was more of an intimate company event as it was really an opportunity for this department to have fun and do some team bonding. The serious surroundings of the boardroom did nothing to get in the way of the fun and games of the cake decorating activity. The cake making workshop got off to a cracking start with all attendees concentrating deeply on my cake decorating demonstration. A certain amount of friendly competition arose once we got to the ‘speed cupcake decorating element’ although I am pleased to say that on this occasion there wasn’t any sabotage involved! At the end of the 2hr session all the participants were thrilled with their beautiful creations and took them home to share with their friends and family. Although the KPMG headquarters are pretty much as far away from our HQ as it’s possible to be whilst still in London, it was well worth the visit. Apart from getting the opportunity to meet a lovely group of people and teach them some cake making skills, I felt very privileged to have these stunning views across the docklands as our backdrop.
Team Building Workshops
This was a really fun cake making networking event that we did for Mayer Brown. As you can see they really enjoyed the cake decorating workshop company event. In particular they loved the speed cupcake decorating element which led to much laughter. As they were PAs from various different companies they really appreciated the icebreaking element of this client event. They were soon bonding over the delicious cream cheese frosting and sprinkles and admiring each others edible works of art. At the end of the 2hr session they were thrilled to have their delicious handmade cakes packaged up for them to take home to share with friends and family. Or if they were very lucky even their co-workers! If you would like us to create a fun filled company event then email us: info@cookiegirl.co.uk or call us on: 020 3573 9135
Great British Bake Off Worldwide- Conference Activity
Having always fancied myself appearing on 'The Great British Bake Off' (judge not contestant please!) I was very happy to be invited to by BBC Worldwide to present an element of 'The great Global Bake Off'. I was asked to host the 'Technical Challenge' for the producers of the GBBO equivalents worldwide. It was their conference activity and a great way to unwind after a busy day at the networking event. They were a creative bunch and when it came to cake making the were not happy to simply stick with what I asked them to do. So they went 'off piste' with their cake decorating and made some truly original cupcake masterpieces. I think the squid might have been my favourite. There were also some very characterful Santas (one of them looked like Billy Bot Thornton in 'Bad Santa'). And I rather liked the snowman wearing a cowboy hat.The activity proved to be a great ice breaking client event. And really helped with the team building on each table. There was some friendly competitiveness between the different countries. It was all in the spirit of fun. Especially as there was no official prize winner. On stage with the sofa at my disposal I came over 'So Graham Norton' and couldn't resist inviting some of the creators of the most original cupcake content up to have a chat about the inspiration behind the way they decorated their cake creations. It was a real pleasure meeting such charming people and working with the BBC Worldwide team to help create a truly fantastic event.
